Hi, EA Sports.
Information architecture is about connecting pieces of information that matters.
Here are a few examples of how I’ve done that over the years.
Project Type: Taxonomy Development
Client: Kids Discover Online
I helped developed a content taxonomy to translate Kids Discover’s printed magazines into digital content: A unit is the equivalent of a magazine title. A topic is the equivalent of a magazine spread. Multiple topics make up a unit. This taxonomy directly informed Kids Discover’s interactive Discover Map, which shows how subject areas relate to one another.
The process of developing this taxonomy was a manual effort. Each Kids Discover magazine was assigned a unit, and each page within that magazine was assigned a topic. A number from 1 to 10 was then assigned to each topic, which our development team used indicate relevance (or proximity) to other topics on the platform.
You can explore the Discover Map live.

Project Type: Information Architecture
Client: Penn State College of Engineering
After conducting 20+ interviews with students, professors and departments, I prescribed a new sitemap and information architecture that (1) married marketing and utility, the two primary objectives defined by the College, and (2) standardized dozens of websites under the www.engr.psu.org umbrella. These screenshots are a small sample of the sitemap; full report is available upon request.

Type: Content Mapping
Client: Administrative Offices of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC)
The goal of this project was to help the AOPC overhaul its intranet. I conducted in-person interviews with 40+ employees and used the findings to inform intranet feature recommendations. This visual shows how I grouped interview responses and mapped them to intranet objectives, as well as which recommended features support those objectives.
